Radio Frequency Microneedling
When time takes our collagen away, we take it back in Beaumont! At Aesthetic and Laser Center, we rely on advanced technology like microneedling to help you enjoy a youthful look once again! Broadly speaking, microneedling (also known as collagen-induction therapy) uses tiny needles to create thousands of microscopic punctures in the epidermis. Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling procedures like Potenza collagen therapy combine the benefits of these micro injuries with RF energy to penetrate deeper layers of skin for more dramatic results.
What Is Potenza Collagen Therapy?
Potenza collagen therapy is an FDA-approved radiofrequency microneedling treatment for the face and body. Our trained professionals at Beaumont Aesthetic Laser use the handheld Potenza device, which has ultrafine needles and radiofrequency energy, to penetrate the skin’s outermost layers. In doing this, we trigger the skin’s natural repair process and boost the production of hyaluronic acid as well as collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin smooth, supple, and healthy. The regenerative response treats a variety of skin concerns, including signs of aging and sun damage (e.g., fine lines and wrinkles), uneven skin tone and texture, scarring, blemishes, skin laxity and stretch marks. Microneedling also creates channels in the skin, which allow topical products to penetrate more deeply.
Who Makes a Good Candidate for Collagen Therapy?
Potenza collagen therapy treatments can be performed on all skin types and tones, on any area of the body. Adults who want to fade fine lines, firm up skin, and clear hyperpigmentation and scarring are usually ideal candidates for radiofrequency microneedling treatments.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
A caring staff member at Beaumont Aesthetic Laser will apply a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure. Once you’re numb, they’ll press the handheld device against your skin, allowing the radiofrequency energy and needles to penetrate. You may feel a stinging or mild burning sensation and light pressure from the needles as the device moves over the treatment area.
Most treatments take less than 45 minutes. For optimal results, you’ll likely need an initial series of three or four sessions, six weeks apart. We’ll discuss the perfect Potenza collagen therapy protocol based on your aesthetic goals. We don’t proceed until we’re sure you understand exactly what we are going to do and what you can expect.
How Do I Prepare for Potenza Collagen Therapy?
For one month prior to treatment, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanning creams. Protect the area to be treated with a broad spectrum SPF 50 sunblock. When you come in for treatment, be sure the area is clean and clean shaven, you are not wearing contact lenses or any jewelry, and you are wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.
After treatment, you will need to continue to protect the area with SPF 50 sunblock, as well as use post treatment supplies such as hypoallergenic skin cleanser and moisturizing occlusive ointment as directed by your physician. Use ice packs every two hours for 20 minutes at a time for the first 24 hours after treatment as directed for swelling and discomfort. Do not scratch or scrub the treated area.
How Soon Can I Expect Results?
Your skin should look smoother and be more glowing in about two weeks, but it can take 2-6 months to see the final results.* It takes a few weeks for your body’s collagen and elastin production to ramp up after a Potenza collagen therapy treatment. While Potenza can be used as a single treatment for brightening and tightening skin for a major event, we recommend a multiple treatment protocol of at least three treatments in four-week intervals to extend the life of the elastin band and collagen.
